Careers at National Digital
Senior, remote-first engineering roles across Australia — real production platforms, salary stated up front, and an AI-assisted workflow with no bureaucracy.
Quick answer
What is it like to work at National Digital?
Why work at National Digital
National Digital is a small, senior digital engineering consultancy that builds custom software, integrations and AI automation for established Australian organisations. We've been shipping production platforms since 2016 — customer portals, booking systems, e-commerce and headless CMS builds that real businesses depend on every day. You can read who we are and how we work, or browse the case studies behind that claim.
We keep the team deliberately small, which changes what a job here looks like. There are no layers between you and the client, no work handed down a chain, and nowhere for quality to hide. You'll own real slices of real platforms, with your name on the outcome — and with senior engineers reviewing your work because they're on the same codebase, not because a process says so.
How we build
We work remote-first across Australia, on a modern production stack, with an AI-assisted engineering workflow — code review, test generation and content operations run with the same automation we build for clients. We adopted these tools early because we build them for a living; you'll learn to use them well, and just as importantly, to hold the quality bar on their output.
What we offer
- Remote-first, Australia-wide — flexible hours that respect your life outside work
- Small senior team: direct mentorship, direct client impact, no bureaucracy
- Modern stack — Next.js, TypeScript, Laravel, AWS — and the time to use it properly
- Professional development budget for courses, conferences and certifications
- Varied work across industries: accommodation, medtech, SaaS, e-commerce
- Salaries reviewed against the Australian market, stated up front on every role

How we hire
We believe in a transparent, respectful process that values your time and gives you a realistic view of what working here is like. No surprise stages, no puzzles on a whiteboard.
1. Application review
We reply to every application, typically within a week. If your experience aligns with the role, we'll set up an initial conversation.
2. Initial interview
A 30–45 minute video call about your experience, technical background and what you're looking for. Ask us anything — including the uncomfortable questions.
3. Practical assessment
A short, role-relevant exercise (typically 2–3 hours, completed in your own time). Real-world problem-solving, never algorithmic trivia.
4. Final interview
A deeper conversation (usually 60–90 minutes): we review your assessment together, dig into technical judgement, and make sure the fit works both ways.
5. Offer and checks
If everything lines up, we typically extend an offer within 2–3 business days. Offers are subject to a National Police Check and reference checks — standard for a team trusted with client systems and data.
The fine print
All roles require you to be based in Australia with full, unrestricted working rights (Australian citizen or permanent resident) — we can't offer visa sponsorship at this time. Successful candidates complete a National Police Check and provide professional references before commencement.
Equal opportunity
National Digital is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to an inclusive environment for everyone. If you need accommodations at any point in the application or interview process, tell us and we'll make it work.
No role that fits?
We're always open to meeting strong engineers, testers and delivery people — headcount grows deliberately, but the door is never closed. Send a short introduction and links to your work to careers@nationaldigital.com.au and we'll keep you in mind as roles open up.
